Pizza place in Long Island has found unique ways to handle bad diners — and the internet agrees
Phil’s Pizzeria in Syosset, Long Island has gone viral for sharp, comedic social media skits that reenact everyday customer frustrations with exaggerated New York attitude. The videos mix over-the-top dramatizations with blunt humor, including moments like a “bad diner” getting sprayed with water and other scenes poking fun at ordering blunders.
“This industry needs a reality show”
Owner Anthony Laurino says the skits are inspired directly by real incidents that happen at the shop. He described bizarre requests like a house salad ordered without lettuce and grilled chicken asked for with no grill marks, plus customers demanding money over small mishaps. Laurino and his staff keep notes as things happen, which gives them fresh material constantly.
Saucy skits and a growing audience
The content targets a range of behaviors: people leaving trash on the counter, customers insisting on pizza being “excessively well done,” and situations involving food influencers asking for free meals. Laurino also jokes about misunderstandings at the counter, like when customers mishear him asking if they want a fork—prompting him to start saying “utensil” instead.
The page notes Phil’s has built a major following (around 150,000 on Instagram) and that Laurino works with content creator Gregory Heinrich, alongside help from his wife Vincenza and manager Anthony Corrao, who frequently plays the troublemaker in skits. Laurino frames the persona as comedic exaggeration, joking that he’s just a regular guy who owns a pizzeria.
